On March 12, Korea Communications Commission (KCC) Chairman Han Sang-hyuk visited the sales stores and met with sales staff from telcos to encourage them amidst their difficulties due to Covid-19. On this day he also announced the plan to support telco sales locations. (사진) Chairman Han visited the telco sales location on the sixth floor of Gangbyun Techno Mart in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul and encouraged the sales staff who have experienced a drop in customers and sales. In addition to representatives from the three telcos, Chairman Han met with heads of the related commerce district associations and owners to listen to their comments and announce measures to support telco sales stores. (사진) First, the key points of the measures include support for equipment: ① provide support for purchasing tablet PCs necessary for completing e-applications at the store (approx. 5.3 billion KRW); ② provide Covid-19 containment supplies and office supplies to smaller stores (approx. 9000 stores, 180million KRW); ③ provide cellphone accessories support to stores in Daegu/Gyeongbuk where Covid-19 has hit hard (200 stores, 100million KRW). Second, until May 2020 the reward for reporting unfair practices in telecommunications sales will be temporarily reduced to one-third (from 3million KRW to 1million KRW) in order to reduce the burden for the stores. The KCC stated it will continue to help the mobile phone distribution stores that are experiencing difficulty due to this national crisis, and asked for the three telcos and sales agents to work together to overcome these hard times. |
