Title Korean Internet Speeds to Be Ten Times Faster by 2012
Date 2009-03-28 Read 24868
The government has announced a spending plan for the nation’s broadband infrastructure with the goal of increasing Internet speeds by ten times.

The Korea Communications Commission said Sunday that the government and the domestic communication industry will spend a total of 34 trillion won or about 25 billion dollars to establish a faster broadband network by 2012. The KCC says the new network will allow average Internet speeds of one gigabit per second for wired access and 10 megabits per second for wireless services.

The faster access would facilitate Internet Protocol TV service to be available on ultra high definition TV that’s four to sixteen times more crisp in appearance than HDTV.
