KCC holds a ceremony to celebrate the launch of a platform for viewers' rights and interests

The online platform "Mediin" to protect the rights and interests of viewers launches the service in earnest. The Korea Communications Commission (KCC, Chairman Lee Dong-kwan) and the Community Media Foundation (Chief Director Cho Han-kyu) held an event to commemorate the launch of the information platform for the viewer's, "Mediin" (www.mediin.or.kr ) at the Federation of Korean Industries Hall in Yeouido on Thursday, November 2. At the event, around 70 people, including members of the KCC's viewer rights protection committee and audience evaluators of each broadcaster, gathered to celebrate the launch of "Mediin."

Mediin is designed to support viewers' understanding, participation, and communication over broadcasting, and its services are categorized into Knowledge Information, Opinion Gathering, and Broadcasting Participation.

Knowledge Information guides the overall system for protecting the rights and interests of broadcasting and viewers, from the basics of viewers and broadcasting services to the current status of laws and systems. It also includes a guide to the way to watch UHD programs, programs of disasters, and programs for the disabled and the way to prevent damage caused when subscribing to, use, and withdraw a broadcasting plan.

Opinion Collection provides a guide to respond to inconvenience in using the broadcast. If necessary, inquiring about inconvenience and receiving guidance online is available. Broadcasting Participation demonstrates various ways for viewers to participate in broadcasting and to get media education information, such as audience monitoring personnel, evaluation boards, and participatory program contests, and excellent audience participation and evaluation programs that have previously aired are also accessible.

Meanwhile, after the ceremony, a meeting between officials, who are responsible for viewers from broadcasters and a workshop of the viewer evaluation board were also held. The meeting covered Mediin's future operational plan and pending issues related to viewers' rights. The workshop included presentations and discussions with the theme 'How to strengthen the role of the viewer evaluation board in evaluating programs.'

The KCC said, "We expect Mediin to play a role in quickly and comprehensively supporting viewers who may be confused in the rapidly changing broadcasting environment. We will work closely with related agencies and broadcasters so that Mediin can establish itself as an effective platform for information of viewer's rights."
