Title	The KCC Vice Chairman had a meeting with the NBTC Chairman

Vice Chairman Lee Sang-in of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) had a meeting with Chairman Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruc of the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand at the Government Complex Gwacheon on Friday, September 8. The meeting engaged in broadcasting and communications policies and regulations, such as user protection policies in the digital era in each country, and the two chairmen exchanged their opinions on them. The NBTC is a governmental institution in charge of crafting policies in the broadcasting and communications sectors; management, authorization, and permission of radio frequency; user protection; and monitoring related business entities in Thailand. It was established in 2011 and consists of seven commissioners, including the chairman. Vice Chairman Lee said, “New technologies and services, including global OTT services, metaverse, and AI-based Chat GPT have increased the convenience in the broadcasting and communications sectors significantly, but ICT is facing various challenges globally due to including fake news, algorithm bias, and harmful online information. He then explained the diverse policies taken by the KCC to safeguard users’ rights and autonomy. Chairman Boonbaichaiyapruc provided an explanation that covered several aspects, such as measures aimed at improving competitiveness within the broadcasting and communications industry, the core policy of the NBTC, and a discussion of interests pertaining to user protection measures within the broadcasting and communications industry of Korea. The two institutions pledged to continue their policy exchange and cooperation through the meeting.
