Date 2009-03-28 Read 79282
Korea's wired communication device production value was shown to be KRW 11 trillion as of 2007, along with an annual average growth rate of 9.5%. However, the production value of overall markets was found to be reduced except for the areas of the electric wire and optic fiber cable, which is an indication of the growth status of the overall wired communications service market.

On the other hand, the areas of electric wire and optic fiber cable, which comprised 63.1% of the overall production value of wired communications devices, were shown to have a production value of KRW 6.9 trillion as of 2007. The annual average growth rate in the areas of electric wire and optic fiber cable is nearing 23.6%, and this can be attributed to the trend of advancement in wired network infrastructure, such as the FTTH.

The production value of wireless communications devices in Korea in 2007 was approximately KRW 43 trillion, at a 10.2% annual average growth rate. Of this figure, the area of wireless communications terminals, which includes mobile phones, comprised 74.5% of the total production value, at KRW 32 trillion.

The production value of mobile phones in Korea by year shows a steady annual average growth rate of 8.0% (2002-2007), and was calculated to be KRW 31 trillion as of 2007. As the Korea mobile communications service market is nearing a state of saturation, the mobile phone market is expected to consist of the demand for replacements in the future.

On the other hand, telematics terminals are showing the largest growth rate among the production value of wireless communications devices, and this is estimated to be a result of the increase in the number of vehicles owned by Koreans and the integration of customer needs. The annual average growth rate of the production value of telematics terminals (2003?2007) is 81.8%, which is KRW 692 billion as of 2007.
