Date 2024-09-06 Read 4633
The KCC welcomes the decision, expecting it to bring greater convenience for users.
The KCC will make strenuous efforts to encourage the location-based information industry and protect location data, as it has done in the past.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC, Acting Chairperson Kim Tae-kyu) stated that it welcomed Apple’s announcement that the Find My service will be available in Korea starting May 2025. This service, which allows users to locate Apple devices, has previously been restricted in Korea. The news was released on Thursday, September 5, in Newsroom, an official blog run by Apple.

Users of Apple devices have requested that Apple launch the Find My service in Korea, as it has been limited in the country. In response, the KCC conveyed these requests to Apple and has consistently discussed the timing of the service’s adoption in Korea with the company.

Kim Tae-kyu, the Acting Chairperson, noted, “Thanks to Apple’s decision, the convenience for users in Korea is expected to improve. The KCC will work closely with the company to ensure the stable use of the service for users while making strenuous efforts to boost the location-based information industry and protect location data.
