A total of 108 works were submitted for the 2023 Media Content Contest for the Disabled
The grand prize went to "What Are You Listening to" which dreams of communication from the perspective of the hearing impaired

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC, Acting Chairman Lee Sang-in) held the 2023 Media Content Contest for the Disabled Awards ceremony at Ferrum Tower (Suha-dong, Seoul) on Friday, December 8.

The 2023 Media Content Contest for the Disabled, held for the second time this year, was designed to enjoy and communicate the disabled's media content under the theme of Media Inclusion for People of All Abilities.

For about two months, from July to September, a total of 108 works were submitted during the contest application period in each field of disabled production content division, disability or the disabled-themed content division, disabled broadcasting content division, and short-form division.

"What Are You Listening to" (Team Name: Brotherhood), the work produced both by the hearing impaired and the non-disabled, won the grand prize. It depicts a modern society where communication is cut off from the perspective of the hearing impaired. The work was well appraised for delivering the wishes of the main character, who dreams of a society that plays music in the office and communicates while looking into each other's eyes, even though they can't hear.

In an opening speech, Acting Chairman Lee Sang-in said, "Broadcasting for persons with disabilities serves as an important way to enjoy common social values and culture through the media, so we should approach it from the perspective of universal services for a sustainable society." He added, "The KCC will actively promote media policies for the disabled to create a media environment where everyone can engage together."

The winning works, including the grand prize-winning work, and their details are available on the KCC website at www.kcc.go.kr and the Community Media Foundation website at www.kcmf.or.kr.
